Predge & Davis Wagon Services partner to enhance reliability of the Drax biomass fleet

Davis Wagon Services (DWS), the Entity in Charge of Maintenance (ECM) for the Drax biomass fleet, has entered into a collaboration with Predge. The partnership aims to enhance safety and increase fleet availability through the implementation of predictive maintenance for key components.

With over a decade of service to Drax, DWS continues to innovate in rail freight maintenance. By integrating Predge’s advanced data-driven solutions, DWS can now anticipate maintenance needs before failures occur—minimizing downtime and improving operational reliability.

Jesper Westerberg, CPO of Predge, says: “This collaboration combines deep maintenance expertise with cutting-edge predictive analytics, paving the way for safer, more reliable rail freight operations by utilizing already existing data infrastructure.”

Following a successful pilot and validation phase, both parties have agreed to extend the collaboration, with a shared goal of unlocking further value and setting new standards in rail fleet performance.

DWS Engineering Manager, Michael Hunter, adds: “By anticipating maintenance needs before they arise, we’re not just preventing issues—we’re redefining what’s possible in fleet performance. We’ve already seen proof of both wheel damages and bogie issues that have been detected remotely and earlier than we could have identified them prior to this collaboration.”
